The only, absolute ONLY reason any Pokemon MD fan hates Gates is because of the limited selection of Pokemon. That caught most everyone off-guard and everyone particularly hurt by it couldn't deal with it, so they make up "legitimate reasons" to hate the game.
The story, character development, music, and graphics are top notch. Any features removed were solely to make the game more accessible and less complex which, for a kids game, is not a bad move. We are not in the target demographic, so we don't have a right to complain about those features. Sure, removing the quiz may have been upsetting, but it's no reason to hate the game.
Gates is objectively a well-built game. Notice I didn't say good or bad; that's subjective opinion. I'm stating cold hard facts,
