>>46978954>This is not a thread for genwarsIt's safe to say the current Gen always causes the most seethe, though 1, 3, 4, and 5 are also pretty consistent offenders. 1 gets shit constantly for being the first and most iconic, the generation that resonates the most across all Pokemon fans. 3, 4, and 5 are all thrown into the same pile as the generations that most game-playing Pokemon fans consider the "good" ones, when it reality it usually just indicates whichever generation the person in question grew up liking the most. 3 was a departure from 1 and 2 which is either the thing that ruins it or the thing that makes it so good depending on who you ask. 4 is considered a return to form (by people who like it) after the abomination that was 3. 5 is the eternal underdog in a lot of people's eyes, the last "good" games that will forever be underappreciated classics regardless of how massively overrated they are in the discourse that takes place here.
2 escapes from most genuine anger because A) it's actually pretty good and B) its flaws are undeniable and ultimately not that major in the grand scheme. You get some jabs about the poor Pokemon distribution and the weird level curve and that's about it. 6 and 7 also don't really get too much flak now that they're out of the spotlight. We've become largely comfortable with considering them transitory games, slapped together with eyes turned toward the horizon. When SwSh's time has passed I think they'll be viewed in the same way.
