For me, my anxiety came from the lack of knowing of my place in the universe. That feeling of being a stranger in a cold, indifferent existence. But what I truly believe now is the universe is alive. It's not cold and mechanical, but organic. I wasn't placed into this world, I was always part of it and grew out of it naturally. The separation of man and nature isn't real. We simply convinced ourselves that we aren't part of nature or are somehow unnatural in what we are. But the truth is that we aren't any less natural than anything else in the universe. We deny our own nature and seek to transform it, by looking for divinity or having spiritual experiences, but this denial of what we really are doesn't change anything. We have to accept our humanity, all the bad and good it brings, rather than flagellate ourselves for having particular thoughts and feelings. Simply accept what you feel as part of who you are, and let it pass by of its own accord. This doesn't mean you should indulge in every self-destructive impulse you have, but rather know that denying feelings only makes them stronger. I dunno, have you ever had a religious family member who couldn't stop looking up porn in secret?

A flower doesn't constantly ask itself if it's being the right type of flower. It simply grows and does what it's supposed to do. With intelligence comes the ability to have thoughts about your thoughts, and when you start analysing every little thing you do, that's when you spiral out of control. I decided to let go and simply trust my subconscious to do the right thing by me.
Okay, that's it from me. I'd be here all day with this bullshit if I kept going. Hope this helps someone else, like it did for me.

You've already experienced the pokemon formula in newer titles, which is why Gen 1 and 2 feel lacking in comparison. Of course they're archaic now, but they were a pretty unique experience at the time, especially since reliable information about the games was hard to come by. Being able to play games on the go was a big deal at the time too, and Pokemon was one of the best games you could get for the gameboy.
