Game Freak hasn't made a game I consider worth $40 since the DS era, and other than XY which I bought blindly not knowing how little of a shit Game Freak would give during its development, I haven't given them $40 for any of them. Did buy PSMD because Chunsoft is a company that can learn from mistakes and listen to fans, and they fixed the biggest issue with GtI. Pokémon would be in a much better spot if Chunsoft was developing the main games. I'd even take Genius Sonority, the Colosseum games were pretty good.
