I was pleasantly surprised by the story but that's about it. You guys probably have heard the same complaints up until now but damn the 3D felt soulless.
I can't remember any specific part of the map aside from things placed by the water or like (comparatively) unique landmarks. Like the weird stone watchtowers by the shallow lake.
There's a lot of map stuff from the older games that I'm still nostalgic for. Maybe my standard are higher now than when I was a kid but I loved seeing the random object sprites in the wild, or exploring INSIDE A FUCKING BUILDING. Some of my favorite levels were the basements or the ghost towers.
Endgame was just the stale cherry on the disappointing cake. There's just so many things they could've done with what seems like minimal effort and that's what makes it feel so insulting.
Guess they wanted players to focus on the raids.
