The original Pokemania was big, but it affected kids and teens, mostly. Adults didnt care, grandparents didnt care, only the actual target audience.
Pokemon Go managed to capture literally everybody. I would see grandparents out with their grandchildren playing. I'd see middle aged men and women playing.
Pokemon go was way bigger, but it's also going to die way faster.
