In the mainline games AND in Smash the models are terrible, they make it painfully obvious that his "tongue" is just a pink blob wrapped around his head. If they went to the trouble of making to look like it's actually coming out of his mouth it would be fine, but...
He always just looks like he's wearing a weird pink scarf separate from his body. I can't jive with that. Sack up and make some animations where the tongue recoils or he uses it to attack or something. And no, that pathetic flop he does where the scarf remains completely static except the tail end doesn't count. My point is the design is good in theory but the execution is lackluster, much like Delphox. I could never truly enjoy either design because of this laziness.
