Ash's battle style, for how good it is now, he doesn't think strategically as he used to. See, it was played that he was dumb and rushed in, but Gary for example, knew better, and knew Ash fights out of the box when he has to, and could analyze situations pretty fast. In other words, he thought tactically, but had some of his brain working strategically.
I feel his evolution into XY (or was it BW?) has increased his useage of the bullrush and diminished his strategic thinking. It's now a VERY reflexive style, with full power and speed, but his strategic capabilities have somewhat diminished.
The problem is Valerie is going to slaughter him with this kind of style. He won't be able to react enough to shift the momentum his way when Valerie's more strategic style traps him. From there it's a killing ground.
He has to go back to some of his older thinking to be able to pull off a win. He doesn't seem to realize Valerie will get him to think he's winning, all the while walking deeper and deeper. When she springs the trick, it's all over. Ash will find he was lodged in too deeply to pull himself out.
