Prior to Gen. 5, I despised Fighting-types. But then pic related was revealed. Weasels happen to be my favorite animal so Mienshao became a favorite very quickly. It was also nice to see a graceful Fighting-type. It does a good job pulling off the asian martial arts theme, thanks to the eyes and arm sleeves. The whiskers look like an old sensei's mouthstache which is a nice touch as well.
People like to complain about Pokemon with markings on its body, but for Mienshao it just works well and keeps it from being labeled as "It's just my mom's pet weasel". Not everything has to be simple and plain like a lot of Gen. 1 Pokemon. Otherwise, the creatures would start looking boring. The color scheme is great too. A dark color like purple contrasts well with the brighter colors.
While we did have weasel Pokemon before, a weasel born to kick butt is an awesome idea for a Pokemon and props to the based designer for creating this one (And Mienfoo). It's also thanks to Mienshao that I've grown to like the other Fighting-types.
