Real Pokémon cards have three layers:
- top
- center (the dark layer that you want to look for)
- bottom
This is what people talk about when mentioning the "rip test", a final-resort to determine if a card was fake or not. Thankfully you don't have to do the rip test as you can just use a magnifying glass to check if it's there or not (or just look up close if you have decent eyesight).
