The mainline games have sucked shit for 3 generations now and sidegames are now mobile cancer and will remain mobile cancer. The anime has gone completely off the deep end because people threw a shitfit that Ash didn't win with deviantartfrog and are accepting how awful the Alola league was just because Ash finally won. The TCG's power creep has gone out of control and are using cards with 200+ HP being the norm with one card reaching 300 HP. The manga is constantly falling behind.
I'll still have fun with the series and I'll still consider myself a Pokemon fan, but I'm not expecting anything good going forward. Sword and Shield will sell like gangbusters and people on metacritic will still go "I want to give it a 7 BUT I'LL GIVE IT A 10 TO COUNTERACT THE PEOPLE GIVING IT A 0 XD" and nothing will change. It's like EA or Bethesda but no accountability.
