It's kind of weird that's pretty much the only sprite that got completely redrawn out of that batch just to change the pose, as the design was pretty much finalized. Some other monsters like Clefairy changed design completely and even then they maintained their pose, more or less, so that's weird, but I'm not sure that's a back sprite.
