This isn't Digimon or Shim Megami Tensei with designs that wouldn't look out of place with the human cast or something style like a drawing you see in the monster girl general.
Now with that out of the way people prefer the more humanoid designs because we're human beings. Even with the quadruped Pokémon you might as why people prefer Glaceon over Yamper and the like and the answer is because Pokémon like Glaceon are cute and even are even human-like in some ways. I said it in another thread but it's the quadruped Pokémon like Glaceon and Absol who have the most anime girl faces over all the Pokémon because Pokémon doesn't have anything like Angewomon and the like in terms of design instead in terms of humaness Pokémon are all over the place. But back to your question Pokémon like Gardevoir have a cute, exotic and also exhibit human like qualities. In a similar vain I think it's the same for Cinderace. Objectively speaking Cinderace is one of the most humanlike Pokémon, and cinderace has been growing at a pretty fast rate in terms of porn and popularity with that one crowd. But yes people are going to gravitate towards characters that can juggle between having exotic, humanlike and cute designs so it's not a small wonder why Lopunny, Gardevoir and Braixen are among the most "hottest" Pokémon according to a collection of 146 tier lists.
