>>43457878Pretty much. It's even worse that myself said it's no biggie, just details. Overall the artist did a damn good job at both science and being faithful to canon Pokémon.
Another tidbit, on Diglett:
>It's believed they're the last in a long lineage of unique subterranean life forms that branched from a common ancestor of mammals and arthropods over 500myaThat doesn't work.
It's clear he meant Diglett has common features to both:
>arthropods - articulated exoskeleton>vertebrates, incl. mammals - internal skeletonHowever a phylum branching out from that common ancestor would most likely have neither, as the molluscs and the echinoderms (who are also descendants of that common ancestor) show. (Pic related - that CA is also the CA of most animals you see out there, anyone with a bilateral symmetry calls him granny.)
Better explanations would be:
1. Diglett is a vertebrate, and developed arthropod-like features through convergent evolution.
2. Diglett got horizontal gene transmission from arthropods it used to hunt. We got weirder shit IRL, like slugs getting photosynthesis genes from algae.
