Self-Destruct and Explosion should have the same base power but Explosion should be a special fire-type move.
They should both keep the defensive stat reducing stealth effect from before the nerf.“Never miss” moves like Swift should still hit its target during moves like Fly and Dig like they did in Gen 1. It’s less about making sense and more about buffing underused moves for balance in a way that keeps the spirit of the move.
Tackle should have 35 base power with 95 accuracy like it originally had. It’s supposed to be a basic but mediocre move that weak Pokémon start out with. You’re supposed to be happy to get rid of it with something better. Buffing it to 50 is dumb and makes Nuzlocking Gen 5 a pain in the ass.
Bug should be super effective against poison-type like it was in Gen 1. Less about making sense and more about balance since bug-type is so fucking shit.

Moves like Sonic Boom and Dragon Rage should just do damage equal to the user’s move like Seismic Toss and Nightshade. Having a move only do 20 or 40 damage is really worthless outside of the first hour or two in the game. They’re also both equally worthless in competitive regardless of the generation, if that counts for anything.
Rock Smash should drop defense 100% of the time. The move is weak as shit and buffing it wouldn’t make any impact in competitive play. As it stands, the move is a shitty version of Power-Up Punch. And yeah, not everything should be balanced for competitive but shit like Constrict (10 base power?????) should at least work 100% of the time.
