>>19839725Not that it's a good thing gameplaywise, but i think that thing of how everyone else seems and feels incompetent is kinda to show how the MC is a prodigy, as in you don't see NPC trainers with pokemon higher than lvl70, that has only been either champions or Red, who is a MC.
Im not sure if this is the real reason, but it's my only explantion at how every npc is shit and underleveled and how amazed they get at how someone could beat all the gym leaders.
Another example of how the MCs are canon prodigies is how the megaevolution is almost a miracle but as soon as XY protags get their rings they are able to achieve it.
