Despite being one of the wealthiest devs on the face of the Earth they struggled with the transition to 3D and rushed out an unfinished game, then instead of refocusing and spending a lot of time getting the next one right they proceeded to rush out unnecessary remakes and then another half-baked generation.
But instead of fessing up they keep trying to deflect the reasons for their questionable, corner-cutting game design with ridiculous "explanations" like "smartphones exist so the games have to have less content", and "kids like stories so we're going to have the first 4 hours be an endless slog of cutscenes and tutorials". This in turn makes them unpopular with the fanbase because it paints them as being contemptuous and arrogant.
I don't want GF to lose Pokemon, but I also don't want them to keep churning out mediocre games. Unless they seriously re-examine their development philosophy and change up the leadership
i.e. stop listening to every dumb thing Masuda says and stop putting Ohmori in charge it's just going to be an endless barrage of bland titles.
