>>36779341To be fair there is some validity to the complaints. Pokemon is a series that thrives off of its monster designs. The Pokemon that people like are what pulls people into the games in the first place. Saying "you can't get 493 of the previous Pokemon" until post game is kind of a slap in the face to anyone who just wanted something familiar. Its a similar feeling to what happened in between Crystal and R/S where you couldn't trasnfer your old mons at all.
Even still BW had some of the riskiest batch of designs out of all the Pokemon games. Just look at how much the Pokedex gets memed about with the ice cream mon,the the monkeys of dex filler, the kamis of healthy meta, tumorfrog, the starters .etc. It probably would have been better received without so many oddball designs and Kanto homages.
