I actually had a pretty good life growing up honestly. 26 currently, Sapphire was my first game, but I had been exposed to GSC and the anime. Only a couple of traumas, one involving moving across the country because my folks cheated on one another and wanted a fresh start to save their marriage.
Pokemon to me is just a little slice of exquisite existential beauty and escapism. God knows I yearn to enter that world. Despite my problems with the 3ds era onward, I still love this franchise with all my heart. I have a nurturing personality trait, so raising fictional creatures is enjoyable. I love the attachment people get to their Pokemon, despite the fact that they aren't real. Even the pokefuckers are endearing with their devotion to particular Pokemon.
"Autistic things you did" or comfy art threads are the best because they show off the imagination and attachment to this one singular franchise of art.
Enjoying Pokemon is enjoying existence.
