Where are people getting that the idea that the Hisuian variants/evolutions are extinct in the present day? When new Pokemon are introduced, they didn't literally just start existing in-universe, we just never saw them before because they hadn't been thought of yet. There's absolutely nothing suggesting that Pokemon like Wyrdeer and Hisuian Growlithe aren't still around in the present day and we just haven't seen them yet.
