>>46487162Theme skills don't do shit. They add a few tens to a stat, but that means fuckall when you need hundreds and to boost then by large percentages to make a difference. The biggest source of synergy is found between the skills, and all you need to do is grab a pair, look at their kit, what does it need and what other pairs contribute to that strategy. For instance:
Mallow. She's a grass type that gets stronger if the enemy is confused and debuffed in attack. She herself has an excellent move for applying confusion in Teeter Dance. Affects everyone, 100% accuracy, no problems there. She also has Power Whip which is a strong 3 bar move with high power but low accuracy. She doesn't have an X buff item due to teeter dance, but she does have her trainer move which boosts Accuracy and Crit rate, so that squares crit and accuracy away. Her biggest issue instead is applying the attack debuffs and boosting her own attack. So she needs allies that contribute to that goal. A good choice is Palentine Dawn, who has both an attack boosting trainer move and an attack debuff. Running her also frees the 3rd slot which allows you to bring a sun setter like Blaine or a 3/5 Lyra which allows you to also pick up the sun nodes if you happen to have a 3/5 Mallow as well.
Champion Iris will also help Mallow a lot, along with griddes 3/5 Hilbert, but she's unreleased as of now.
