>>57768146Ooh your tree looks very clean and well organized!
>The reason why there's two Mays in the games is because one is the protag and the other one is the rival. Not sure if the way I branched Idol May makes sense but to my knowledge only her playable version can use the contest attire?I like this distinction. Beyond the ORAS contest outfit thing (which I don't actually remember about), while it might not be a visual difference, RSE rival May has a distinct personality while RSE playable protagonist May has no canon personality, being your self insert.
>Sapphire clothing and 'phases'I have no idea why Sapphire has so many outfits. You'd think she'd have the least but in my tree so far at least she's actually on par with Mastersex May for biggest wardrobe.
>I'm not sure how to differentiate them (e.g.ORAS May and Masters EX MayORAS and Mastersex May look visually identical more or less, but it's the internal that's different. ORAS May can either be (You) or a rival with a distinct personality, and with any of the 3 Hoenn starters. Meanwhile Mastersex May can't be (You) and she's implied to be a specific interpretation of ORAS rival May who chose Mudkip.
>>57768082>1. A species should be primarily about the character. Clothes come second or can be ignored.>2. Clothing can account for subspecies / variants, though they should be iconic or relevant. If one outfit represents one of May's character traits, it can be a species. If it only appeared for a gag or had no further meaning, it should be ignored.I think both my May tree
>>57767792 and
>>57768146's tree are in between #1 and #2, with
>>57768146 leaning towards #1 (which is why it's much neater) and mine basically being #2 (which is why it looks convoluted).
>I suppose they're different, as trailer May appears jolly while Evolutions May is more serious.I agree those two should be considered separate species.
