The real problem is the first Raichu that just kinda hangs out, because it will ALSO go for the fluffruit you set down and completely cockblock Pikachu from following the trail. Not to mention that Pikachu itself is braindead and will stop to eat the fruit half of the time, even if there are 5 other fruit on the ground for it to follow, and then promptly walk away in a different direction. Compound all of this with the fact that this takes place at the far end of the course, so every attempt makes you turbo your way through 2 minutes of nothingness, and it's not even mindless button holding because you're gonna want to get Exeggutor out of your path early if you want to be 100% optimal.
The beach really does just suck, but the yellow rat makes it so much worse.
