The mid battle effects in general are way too much. Having enemies set weather, status your lead, and boost their lead's stats is pretty absurd. The Status in particular is the worst of them, and it's used a fuckton. If it was just weather/terrain or one stage stat boosts, it'd be fine, but instead, we have bosses status you, set weather, and boost their offenses/defenses by a couple of stages all at once, and that's just annoying as fuck. And while the ""counterplay"" is just put a status berry on your lead when you're about to fight one of the clan shitters, you have to use Lum Berries for the Akui clan shitters, which you don't get much of those at all. Sure, you could plant some, but who actually wants to plant berries in a ~15 hour fangame kek
When combined with every random shitter almost always taking down at least one of your mons thanks to the above, the Katana heal is garbage. One heal until you can get to a pokemon center to refresh it is fucking dumb. The fact that you don't get more charges as you go through the game, praying at shrines is a huge missed opportunity, unless it was intentional, in which case, it's retarded.
Grinding up new team members is really shit, especially after midgame. There's no easy exp outside of Chansey/Blissey in the special grass encounters, and endgame, those also happen to be on routes with Special water encounters, which eat up your special encounter slot until you fight it, or leave the map. Exp All and Lucky egg only go so far.
Overall, I'll give the game a 6/10 as well. If all the shit above didn't exist, this would probably be a really easy 8/10 or 9/10.
This game suffers from similar problems as Ashen Frost did, where it's an actually good game drastically held back by just a couple of bad points present throughout the entire game.
