Crystal Clear applies that to the whole game, and makes routes even more worthless by letting you fly anywhere, even places you've never visited
Also the author seems very anal about making sure the game is compatible with other old ass gen 2 shit no one cares about anymore, so the pokemon selection is trash, the move selection is trash, there's no physical/special split, you have to put up with the old box system that's aged like milk, you have to regularly dump items in the PC because your bag is full, etc.
But you can get trade evos without trading and buy every TM(because the creator insists on not making them infinite use), so that's nice I guess
