Pokemon used to be my favorite RPG series all the way until X/Y. B2/W2 is my favorite, but X/Y broke me. Everything about it was bad. Fairy types, megas, tiny ass dex, awful 3D models and coloring (looking at you, Gengar), overcorrecting for easily fixed mistakes, terrible music, boring ass region, and to top it all off, they were the easiest games in a series, when the games had been getting harder and harder starting in 2006 and ending in 2012. Challenge mode in B2/W2 gave me hope for the future, and X/Y dashed that hope.
Then, Gen 7 came along and was more of the same, except Guzma was cool and I liked his music. It wasn't the worst thing in the world, even if it was objectively worse than Gen 5, simply because I already had any hope for a good Pokemon game dashed against the rocks by how terrible Gen 6 was. However, even my low expectations couldn't handle how absurdly bad Gen 8 turned out to be.
Time to go play Xenoblade X instead. It's a better game than Sword and Shield in every way.
