>>53983674i grew up with gens 3/4/5. didn't like gen5 though i found it boring and i didn't really like any of the characters other than iris. In gens 3/4 i found battling enjoyable and had an okay level of difficulty, i replayed platinum recently and have started playing crystal ive actually lost battles in these games and i dont think i have in any of the newer entries, the stories in these games were amazing when i was younger and i still enjoy them today. theres something about the stories in the newer games that makes them feel half assed. i dont think sv was as bad as swsh in this respect though. the bad guy teams in the newer games also suck they dont really seem that bad or feel like some powerful threatening entity i think this has been the case since sun and moon. the maps were also a lot more enjoyable it actually felt like you had a bit of room to explore instead of being pushed along a track. I also think the older games felt a lot more polished sure there are bugs and stuff and theyre mostly 2d games but the new games dont feel like gamefreak cares at all it just feels like they shit games out to keep sales up instead of trying to make something decent
