Perhaps she became popular in Sinnoh and wanted to see if she could achieve the same heights in Kalos. Maybe she dyed her hair green so she could enter under a pseudonym so people wouldn't recognise her and influence their vote because she wants to prove she can become Kalos Queen on skill rather than riding her Sinnoh fame.
