Hello, all.
Firstly, I'd like to preface this leak with the fact that many of the details I am about to share with you are subject to change by Game Freak, so take everything here with a grain of salt.
Anyhow, my name is R and I'm working with a localisation team on the 2018 Pokemon games. We're wrapping up our script work, so I found that it would be appropriate (on my own terms) to share some info about the new games with you.
Themes:
- As informal reboots of the Pokemon franchise, the 2018 IPs will focus on rebirth. The way the theme plays out in the game is very interesting, and provides for a more substantial story than we've seen in past games.
- In one version, baddies from the game are focused on a global "reset" initiated by the serpentine cover legendary. They are motivated to do this in order to reverse modern progress, reverting to their traditional, cultish way of life.
Region:
- Not sure if this has been reported in any other leaks, but the first part of the campaign takes place on an expansive island, with the post game taking the player to past cities and regions. The way the "regional transfer" mechanic works is quite unique. Kanto is in the game to some capacity.
Battle System
- There are no major simplifications in regards to battle mechanics, but a new mechanic will be introduced which enhances the stats of a selected monster. It can be initiated once per game. More on this mechanic will be revealed at E3.
Misc. Notes:
- There will be a flying-type Eeveelution
- one of the legendaries resembles a mythical "Duende" monster
