/lit/ anon here. I'm in the process of developing an outline for a Pokémon novel adaptation, tentatively titled "Pocket Monster Trainer," and I'd like to hear your ideas.
A little bit about me.
>Published YA author. I have 4 published soft and hard cover novels available at B&N. I've been writing for over fifteen years.
>Never played Pokémon until very recently. My daughter got me to play Blue Version on her 3DS and I got hooked.
>I don't know much else about the Pokémon world and lore other than what I've played in Blue Version.
Here's a basic pitch for how the novel would be.
>YA novel, 450-550~ page manuscript target.
>Story mostly inspired by the 1st generation story.
This is merely a passion project, and I have no intention of ever trying to publish it. When it's done, I'll host it anonymously. The main reason I'm writing this is for my daughter; she's 14 and loves reading and playing Pokémon.
Now, please throw me any suggestions and ideas you may have that could improve this project. Here are a few things I'd like to get opinions on.
>1st person or 3rd person narrative?
>What Pokémon should be featured?
>Who should I write for the protagonist?
>Is there any other media beyond the Red & Blue Versions that I should research? Is the anime worth researching?
>Should I take any creative liberties to make this Pokémon world feel more unique?
