That should work, but if it gets too costly or they turn down the food (constrictors can be notoriously picky eaters), look into getting them taught Synthesis. It uses the natural plant-like qualities to generate energy quickly and reliably. I'd mention getting a heat lamp if you live somewhere that doesn't get much sun, but if that's the case, you should probably already have one.
