After going through the Sevii Islands, the team went into Giovanni's Gym and.... yeah, I'm not gonna beat around the book: Migraine spammed Surf and took zero damage. Easiest gym fight we've had so far.
The Rival battle was kinda spooky because Mary Jane got stuck using Petal Dance when he switched in Alakazam, but he used Future Sight like a dumbass.
Unfortunately, Mary Jane's luck caught up to her: the first fight we had in Victory Road was a Golbat, the attempt to run from it failed, and it used Mean Look. Shit. I tried to whittle it down with Sleep Powder and Cut, but the damage wasn't enough and it woke up too quickly. I used the single health item I had allotted (per rules), but it wasn't enough. Mary Jane didn't get to see the Indigo Plateau. RIP girl, we'll do it for you.
Subbing in Sloth because I don't have a better option that diversifies my team. You also might notice we have an... interesting encounter in the box. Yeah, so I somehow went through all of Mt. Ember without finding three duplicate encounters, and since I'm technically not banning legendaries because I figure the odds of this sort of thing happening is so low, I gave myself the chance of catching Moltres and... it worked lmao. I'd kind of like to sub it in as opposed to Raskova, because Pidgeot is really falling off, but what do you guys think? Is it kosher to use it? Would like to hear you guys weigh in.
>>46953295I personally use a rule where I can't overlevel to the mean level of a gym leader's team, but that's optional. IMO overleveling is perfectly valid if you know you don't have any good team members to use in that fight. Ultimately it's your run, play how you want to.
>>46954055I'd say so. Sometimes you're completely walled off from a Pokemon if you don't count it (example is Drifloon in D/P/PT). I'd say just count it as that area's encounter.
>>46950879Thanks for the well-wishes, you have a cute team. Love the naming convention too lmao
