He is a Capricorn, so he actually had the will to get shit done. He literally saved Pokemon twice: once when his autistic airheaded boss lost backups, and twice when the same dipshit spent months cooking up garbage for their emerging sophomore slump.
GSC is Junichi Itsuno's DMC2. He had to make the best of a terrible base; it was doomed to fail, but he made it suck less than what it was going to; only to follow up with a couple masterpieces (DMC3 & DMC4) in RSE and DPPt that cemented the quality and legacy of the franchise.
And to top it off, that shit wasn't even supposed to be his job. He was just supposed to be the music guy, yet everyone else on the team was so incompetent, they forced him to step up to the plate, which he did dutifully (and successfully), despite all the pressures surrounding him.
And if that wasn't enough, he still did his job, putting out musical magna opera that have enshrined him in the pantheon of greatest video game, if not media as a whole, composers of all time.
