The GameBoy's memory is "overloaded" with games past the 64KB mark, which is why MBCs (Memory Bank Controllers) are necessary if you want to handle more memory. Theoretically, yes, you could design your own MBC to support any memory size you want, but Nintendo's MBCs only go up to 64MB as far as I've been able to find. This is also what's supported by emulators, and accurate emulators will meaningfully refuse to run your ROM correctly if you expect it to go over 64MB somehow.
>>35847164It's fine. The biggest available GBC ROM is 8MB, but as I said, you can _theoretically_ hook up to 64MB in your ROM and emulators will still accept it, because they can emulate the MBC5 hardware, which supposedly has a hard cap of 64MB.
That said, why would you ever need that much memory?
