I started Radical Red for the 4th time yesterday afternoon. I stopped playing to have dinner and afterwards I didn't take my eyes off the screen until about 4am when I stopped in front of the Elite Four. I woke up at 8am, finished off the Elite Four.
I did a rodent-themed run. I could only use rodent pokemon or rodent-like pokemon (the non-rodents I used were badger-based mons). I stuck to a list I found of rodent pokemon which included the Cyndaquil line and Zigzagoon line.
This was my elite four team.
Typhlosion was the absolute MVP. In Radical Red it gets the fire equivalent of Gale Wings as its hidden ability; fire moves are priority if you're at full health. With Eruption, it's insane. Against Bruno I set up screens with Pachirisu, then just swept with Typhlosion.
Pachirisu is great for decent defences + Prankster.
The MVP of the whole run was Furret with Adaptability Extremespeed. Caught at level 2 and was with me through the whole run. Gave him a choice band for mad damage.
The theme of the team turned out to be priority moves; every member of the team except Excradrill had a priority move or priority ability.
On the bench was an Alolan Raichu, Nidorina with an eviolite (Nidoqueen didn't look like a rodent at all so I didn't evolve it), Emolga, Raticate, and Dedenne. A.Raichu was the only one that really got significant play time at the end. Dedenne has Electric Terrain as its hidden ability, which was very useful to get past Sabrina. Also A.Raichu's ability is SurgeSurfer, so they had great synergy together. I also used a Cinccino for a while but I dropped it halfway through the game.
If I can man up, I might try another Nuzlocke run on this game.
