>>50205446Many reasons
>console embargowe didn't get half of their games because wonderswan didn't make it to the US, like how WOW/starcraft sold like gang busters in china/korea because of console embargo, only did alright in the US and it didn't catch on japan
The games that explained the card game and a bunch of trading/strategyrpgs didn't make it to the states
>Nintendo's backing Smash bros/ being able to hook your gameboy up to the N64 and that blockbuster promotional snap shit really pushed it.
>Marketing They really pushed the card game and merch
>TV show getting to the USA FIRSTMany dumb fucks didn't realize that digimon were just boy's tamagatchis that went bigtime and arrived in the USA a year before pokemon did, I and a couple of others did.
>>50205201>>50205209>>50205271>>50205364>>50205446You all sound like zoomers/ or protozoomers (92'-95") LITERALLY EVERY SHOW HAD TALKING ANIMALS BEFORE HAND. I remember being a kid and always being annoyed that the pokemon couldn't talk, I always thought that them saying their names were stupid; and I wished that Pikachu could fucking talk at least
Also in the first season pokemon speaking was far more common that it was now
>MeowthI was always complaining why can the enemy talk, but not the hero's?
>one gastly>Santa's lapras>MewtwoI remember kids being hyped when they could talk.
I honestly liked digimon more as a kid and till this day because they actually had personality and could talk.
