>>48175705It depends on the style and series, since one size doesn't fit all and some Japanese creators are adopting more of a global mindset than their predecessors. That isn't to say creators like Toriyama or the people who did draw things like early Pyuunma or Jungle Kurobe should be erased from history, but it's definitely a creative choice that's not favorable due to some finding the designs to look clownish and othering even if those design choices are exaggerating features known to stand out. Even if one defends it by saying it's realistic, then that argument still ignores how the Japanese and sometimes Europeans in anime don't commonly have caricatured looks (though there are apparent cases like Iyami from Osomatsu-kun playing on Asiatic features) outside a few exceptions.
The bottom line is how people want to be represented (fairly) can have more than one idea since not everyone thinks the same. There are black and brown girls who can point to Nessa and say "she's just like me" whether they're actually correct doesn't matter that much in the grand scheme of things. There's much bigger things to worry about than "correcting" them.
