Based off the extensive research I've done since just prior to the game coming out, it is probably an issue with the game that is causing issues with Switches that have faulty NAND. It does not appear to be easily replicated, and it seems like a fairly inconsistent issue across the board (to the point where buytrannies are putting the finger on the ones reporting the issues and claiming hacking, lying, etc...) Then again, we also *can't* know that yet, because we just don't have enough of a sample size or logged hours of playtime yet. It has only been a little under a week since the game launched. Furthermore, it could also be that there are others who are having issues with their Switches that have not reported them on the internet, or are misattributing rising issues with the Switch rather than the game and are therefore misdiagnosing their own problems.
tl;dr - My strong feeling is that it *is* a game issue, but one that will not affect everyone equally. GameFreak will therefore sweep everything under the rug or act like it's a Switch problem if they ever do say anything. There will not be ANY patch for the game, as this would cause too much negative publicity before the holidays.
