>>52869397What I find annoying about the chest mimic thing is that people seem to not realize that mimics are their own type of shapeshifting monsters and not possessed inanimate objects. They're a favorite fictional species of mine, but when I saw Gimmighoul I thought "Technically, it's not a mimic" so I didn't 100% expect they'd lean into that with the evolution.. the golden golem route they took makes a lot more sense to me. The world of Pokemon also has their own forms of mimics with Voltorb and Foongus anyways.
Gholdengo's surfer motif still baffles me, but it's so fun I find it hard to understand how so many people don't find it endearing.
