>>33138452>>33138464>>33138443I'm pretty sure it's more a principled stand against dropping essentially endless amounts of cash on one game -- and a game that isn't all that well constructed or even all that engaging -- than it is about not having the money to spend.
I mean, I've spent the odd bit of cash on this game, and I always feel like I rube whenever I do, because 1) the coins never last very long, 2) the game isn't all that great, and Niantic doesn't really deserve my money, and 3) whatever amount of cash I've spent ultimately adds to the pile of money I've spent on this game, which, even if it's just a two bones here or there, may well add up to tens or hundreds of dollars over time if I'm not great with my money.
Plus there's the whole "pay to win" thing, which is sort of shitty, and there's the whole "people who drop loads of money on this game are actually being taken advantage of and probably have clinical gambling or impulse control problems" thing.
>It's my money and if I have plenty to spend on whatever I want then I'm going to do soNo one's saying you aren't a big boy or the captain or your own ship or whatever, but, I mean, you could use this same logic to justify spending hundreds of dollars on bottlecaps and bubblegum, and it wouldn't make those purchases any less retarded.
