>>49781812>>49781892Consider the following, anon: Pokemon's design philosophy did change over time AND you got older.
The pokemon world is a lot more inviting than it was before, and I meant that in both an internal and external sense. Aagron and Absol might've seemed like the most badass shit to you back in middle school, but in reality all of your peers thought you were a faggot who should leave pokemania in the 90's like they did and pick up call of duty already. That's just the way the video game industry was at the time. It was all about being hardcore and edgy and "not for babies, I swear"
But now normies are into games, and that makes cute marketable again. For this reason, it only makes sense that game freak leans in harder on making the monsters expressive. With softer easier to read shapes, toonier features, and more vibrant colors.
Hate to break it to you anon, but anyone who isn't 12 realizes there's more to effective design philosophy than "bulky and covered in spikes". Why do you think no one gives a fuck about Digimon outside of contrarians and unfortunate hardcores? Why do you think every pokemon knockoff project eventually shrivels up and dies? Because they're still trying to please you. And you aren't worth pleasing.
