And finally here is Emerald.. After a bunch of restarts and wipes due to shit selection of mons, I finally got some diversity this run.
It all started with gettin Skarmory on the ash route, then a Swablu, then a Spoink. Plus I already had a Hariyama. Things were looking good. Until Flannery's Torkoal ripped its second Overheat (with dropped special already) and crit Marshtomp when its Soft Sand mud shot didn't down it!
Luckily soon after I was able to get a Trapinch at the Mirage Tower which I was going to save for later. Swablu, Skarmory and Spoink all pulled thru Norman. Then an evolved Alteria wiped the flying gym and it was really satisfactory to watch my Altaria destroy the gym leader's own!
Everything was going fine and I was feeling good up to the E4. But then, the last trainers on Victory Road, hiding below a bridge ambushed me into a double battle with 2 Slakings, each with all the elemental beams. This caused a full team wipe, loosing Altaria, Hariyama, newly evolved Flygon, and Ping, the Grumpig who carried much of the mid to late game with his Sp. Def., Speed and nice Sp. Attack. He was the hero and martyr of this run :(. Will be missed.
I was low in the box mons, and luckily still had Skarmory which I boxed before Victory Road so that I could pull a waterfall and strength mon. I also salvaged Beautfly who lost usefulness mid-game. And brought on Magneton. That's 3 fire weaknesses right there, so I thought I should stack up on water types. the shark came. and the cloud
And then I made the decision to search for Feebas, since both Magicarp and Tentacool are both veteran champs from my Red and Blue runs (will update that...) this meant the fishing with a Old Rod would eventually pull up a Feebas. And it actually did and was not that bad! Got all the berries and did all the bs needed to evolve it, and man is Milotic a tank! It tore through the Slakings on Victory road and at the E4, it iced the dragon leader and even took on Wallace's Milotic!
