I've got 6 badges so far. I started in Kanto with Smoochum. First hour or so was me getting rekt by overlevelled wild Beedrills and early route trainers with full teams. Eventually I gave up trying to explore and I just grinded a Poliwag on Brock's gym. Once Smooch learned Powder Snow it was smooth sailing.
Eventually I caught an overleveled Murkrow and proceeded to absolutely destroy half of Kanto. Then I went on to torment Clair and Falkner. Then I found a move tutor and had him supe up my team with event moves. Morty is going to be gibbed hard by my Misdreavus.
