>>38542922As someone who still holds Gen 3 in high regard (I didn't quit the series after) I can get behind this thought process.
But I never truly thought about how fucking long Gen 3 lasted compared to the other generations.
And despite also starting during the Pokemania of Gen 1, I think it really was that period (post Ruby and Sapphire) that had cut out any interest for the series outside the mainline games for me. No more of the anime, cardgame, or any of the other forms of merchandise could gain any of my interest.
Heck, even the spin-off games never really kept me interested (though I whole heartily believe those who may say that they're still good) I played both Colosseum and Gale of Darkness, and I think the first Mystery Dungeon, but that was pretty much it.
And now that I'm typing this out, I think Platinum was the first *final version* game I skipped out on, so no BW2 or USUM either. And while I did buy both HGSS and ORAS, I barely touched them.
Little bummed to think I probably missed out on some gold in the rough but whatever I guess.
