>>44893658>Made the cutting of features from previous generations a series standard>Generally introduced the concept of generations in the first place so that Pokemon was safe to be iterative instead of building on an entry by entry basis, who needs a consistent build up of content when every new game has a new shitmon rodent and bird in the first route?>RBY tier post-game until Emerald (Battle frontier is squandered on gen 3 battle mechanics)>Marks the lowest point in Pokemon's mainstream appeal, the way RSE went that without FRLG, DPPt, and HGSS saving the series reputation we'd be at a point where new mainline games are being fan translated in the west >Sits in an awkward and unfun to play middle ground of having been updated past the GB games but lacking the physical and special split that made battling actually intuitive>Embarrassingly outclassed by two spinoffs on the gamecubeEverything bad about the franchise now can be traced back to gen 3. Either it persisted through gen 4 and 5 and is a gripe I have about those games (features not being retained, loss of the original grounded artstyle) originating from gen 3 or it's a seed that was planted that only sprouted into a shitshow in the 3D era (what started as battle twists like double battles snowballed into centralizing one-gen-only gimmicks like megas, z moves, and gigantimax/dynamax, pokedex bloat, etc). They're everything wrong with gamefreak. The DS era was mechanically amazing and tried its best to course correct the mistakes of Hoenn but in the end the trumpet shitfest dragged the entire series into the absolute fucking state it's in today.
