Gen 3: Great mix of Pokemon with interesting types and abilities. Designs also have good variety in terms of shapes and appearances. Introduced a truckload of single stage shitmons though.
Gen 5: Tied with Gen 3 imo. Designs have a lot of effort put into them. Awesome new type combos and this gen had stellar designs for dark types (my favorite type). Objectmons are blown out of proportion and still have charisma and charme. Way overhated.
Gen 2: Very charming designs. However I feel like that even by ingame standards a lot of mons from this gen are bad. If it weren't for Gen 4 cross evos, this gen would've had even more single stage shitmons than Gen 3.
Gen 4: Want to rank it higher but a lot of the new mons have that Gen 2 syndrome were they're just plain bad, like Mothim, Purugly or Lumineon for example. Cross Gen evos are the saving grace. Things like Rhyperior or Magmortar get too much hate.
Gen 1: Not saying they're boring but a lot of them feel bland to me. If it wasn't for the 1st season of the anime I'd barely even care for them. A lot of it is weirdly colored animals or things getting bigger/growing multiple heads as they evolve. Not bad but underwhelming when you go past the obvious fan favorites like Arcanine, Gengar or the starters.
Gen 7: Roughly tied with Gen 1. Designs are full of personality and they did a great job at designing them in a way that really emphasizes on how they live in the same tropical region. However this gen lacks the monster aspect; too much is humanoid or some cutesy shit. UBs are great and are the pleb filter of this gen.
Gen 6: This one doesn't do it for me. Fossils are incredible, Ghost types are, cool thats it. I don't like the starters and had the by far most disappointing pseudo legendary yet. Megas are hit and miss as well (especially when taking balancing into account too).
