Not sure what object using mons youre talking about specifically but mons like conkeldur dont control their objects psychically. Stonjourner is meant to be a normal rockmon in the pokemon world with no psychic or spiritual affiliation and it seemingly controls the rest of its body with its mind. Look at the animation when you send it out, it starts off with the rocks flat on the bottom and they just turn upright.
