>>17302651You cannot be this ignorant. Not everyone who is fat chooses to be fat.
Many cases of obesity are traced back to eating habits they picked up from their parents growing up (not knowing better), and even an assortment of medical conditions can cause an increase in body fat overall. These can be physical like Hypothyroidism (too little thyroid hormones produced so the body retains more fat due to a dramatically slowed metabolism), or the less common Cushing's Syndrome (hyperactivity in adrenal glands producing too much cortisol, causing increased fat production and retention).
The most common psychological disorder that can cause or lead people to become fat is Depression. (think Fat Bastard's line in one of the Austin Power movies: "I'm fat because i eat, I eat because i'm fat; it's a cycle"(?)) This is because eating produces a significant amount of stimulation in Dopamine and Serotonin receptors that boost our mood, driving away the feelings of depression.
I will give you that those hamplanets who deliberately continue their bad habits and even have the damn gall to preach about "body acceptance/equality" to the nth degree are stupid and should by no means scootin' around Walmart preaching, but most fat people don't actively choose to be fat.
A friend of mine has hypothyroidism and it looks like hell. He works out every day, and is on a strict vegan diet. He's not a whale by any means and has slimmed down a bit, but he looks a bit pudgey. It's just his body chemistry man and he's certainly not choosing that. Not everything is so black and white sometimes.
