Playing through Sword/Shield made me want to do a fanfic following the journey of several/hundred/thousand of trainers on a specially made challenge island. The basis would be a whole streaming event following each trainer using a huge amount of Rotom-bots through the course of weeks/months
The island would features:
-Eight Gyms
-E4 and/or grand championship
-A pointing system
-Hotspots (Spooky castle, tall mountain, mythical statues, ect)
-Challenges for special prizes/ect
-A (((evil))) team distrusting the peace that is part of the show
-True villains behind the scene
-Tourist traps (Amusement park, clothing stores, ect.)
-Scattered strong trainers doing their own things
-Obligatory legendary shenanigans both in-scene and unforeseen
-And many more
It's a lot to write about, but I like the idea so far. The main characters could be a group of six split in three (One going alone, two doing their own things as a team, trio meant to resemble Ash&co) and ultimately face a legendary together in a six pokemon VS one style. On the side you'd have other characters doing their own things
