Preferably without any amateur fiction hallmarks like generic evil teams relying on edge and shock value to cover a lack of substance, OC partners/rivals who steal the show during cutscenes but never help during gameplay, and a story that gestures at safe ideas we already collectively believe in without meaningfully exploring them.
And without any amateur game balance mistakes like thinking you balance a game by giving every Pokemon ever access to the best signature moves ever and give the player easy access to the strongest Pokemon ever as early as possible.
